i.Lase offers integrated eye care by Prof Mohammed Muhtaseb, a consultant ophthalmic surgeon, with special expertise in refractive surgery.
i.Lase is the refractive surgery and lens implant practice of Prof Mohammed Muhtaseb who has worked with us in the practice for 10 years. He consults with both Austin and Hannah to provide an integrated level of eye care that we believe you cannot get anywhere else in Wales.
Prof Muhtaseb is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in the NHS with special expertise in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery based in South Wales. So in practice we tend to see corneal problems (eg. Keratoconus) and cataract which may require refractive surgery.
He is Visiting Professor at the University of South Wales and Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, Cardiff University. He is also an approved provider of continuing education and training for optometrists.
Prof Muhtaseb holds full specialist registration with the General Medical Council.
He graduated with Distinction from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1995 and completed his ophthalmology training in London. He has completed three separate sub-specialty training fellowships in each of Cornea Surgery, Refractive Surgery, and Medical Ophthalmology / Neuro-ophthalmology.
